Fire Protection Services

The RM of Reynolds is dedicated to safeguarding the lives, property, and natural beauty of our region. In accordance with The Municipal Act, our municipality maintains a robust and reliable fire protection system. Our mission is to provide rapid, professional emergency response through a combination of local expertise and coordinated regional support.

The Reynolds Fire Department

The Reynolds Fire Department, based in Prawda, is our primary local emergency responder. The department is powered by 17 active members – dedicated neighbours and volunteers who are committed to protecting the community they call home. These individuals undergo rigorous training to ensure they are prepared to face the unique challenges of our rural landscape.

Our team provides essential fire and rescue coverage for a broad area, including:

  • Spruce Siding
  • Medika
  • Hadashville
  • Prawda
  • McMunn
  • East Braintree

Equipment & Operational Readiness

To ensure our first responders can operate safely and effectively, the RM of Reynolds prioritizes the maintenance and modernization of our fleet. Recent upgrades to our capabilities include the acquisition of a fire truck in 2022 and a specialized Light Rescue Truck in late 2023.

Our firefighters participate in regular, scheduled training sessions and ongoing certification programs. This proactive approach ensures that our team remains proficient in the latest firefighting techniques, motor vehicle extraction, and emergency rescue protocols.

Regional Fire Protection Partnerships

Given the large geographical footprint of the RM of Reynolds, we work in close cooperation with several neighboring municipalities. These mutual aid agreements are vital to our safety strategy, ensuring that the closest available emergency personnel are dispatched to your location, regardless of municipal boundaries.

If you reside in or own property in the following areas, your primary fire protection is provided through these dedicated partnerships:

  • Julius and Rennie: Served by the RM of Whitemouth Fire Department

  • Molson and Julius: Served by the Town of Beausejour and the RM of Brokenhead Fire Department

  • Ste. Rita and Contour: Served by the RM of Springfield Fire Department

  • Richer East: Served by the Richer Fire Brigade

  • Marchand: Served by the RM of La Broquerie Fire Department

  • Ross: Served by the RM of Tache Fire Department

Emergency Response

In the event of an emergency, please dial 911 immediately. The provincial dispatch system will automatically identify your location and alert the appropriate department – whether it is the Reynolds Fire Department or one of our regional partners – to ensure the fastest possible arrival on the scene.

Community Engagement & Contact

We believe that fire safety starts with communication and education. Fire Chief Don McDougall is always available to answer community questions, discuss fire prevention, or provide a tour of the fire hall for those interested in seeing our equipment and facilities.

Meet Our Team: The Faces of the Front Lines

The strength of the Reynolds Fire Department lies not in its trucks or equipment, but in the dedicated individuals who step forward to serve. Our team is comprised of 17 active members who live and work right here in the RM. They are your neighbours, friends, and colleagues; ordinary citizens who perform extraordinary work to keep our community safe.

Being a member of the department requires a significant personal commitment. Beyond responding to emergency calls at any hour of the day or night, these individuals spend countless hours in training, maintaining equipment, and participating in public safety initiatives. Their professionalism and bravery are the foundation of our local safety network, and we are proud to recognize the men and women who stand ready to protect the RM of Reynolds.
