Notice of Nominations

All individuals intending to run for the office of Reeve or Councillor must officially file nomination papers to appear on the ballot. The obligation to ensure that nomination papers are received on time rests entirely with the person being nominated.

  • Nomination Window: September 16, 2026, to September 22, 2026 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The RM office is closed Saturday and Sunday (September 19 & 20, 2026).

  • Deadline: Any submissions received after 4:00 p.m. on September 22, 2026, will not be accepted, and the individual will not be eligible to run for office.

  • Forms: You can preview and download the Official Nomination Forms on the Province of Manitoba website or the forms may be picked up at the RM office.

Nomination Requirements

  • Signatures: All nominations must be made in writing and signed by at least twenty-five voters whose names appear on the voters’ list, or not less than 1% of the voters (whichever is the lesser) of the authority or ward. In all cases, a nomination must be signed by at least two voters.

  • Declaration: Each Candidate Nomination must be accompanied by the candidate’s Declaration of Candidate, which includes a disclosure of any relevant offences as required by the Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act.

  • Candidate Status: A person officially becomes a candidate only when the Senior Election Official (SEO) or Assistant Senior Election Official (ASEO) accepts their completed nomination papers. Papers not accompanied by the required documents or not properly filed shall be rejected.

Methods of Filing: Nomination papers may be filed at the Municipal office during the hours specified above, in person, by the candidate’s official agent, by fax or by email.
