Property Tax Credits

The RM of Reynolds is here to help you understand the various property tax credits available in Manitoba. Below is a summary of some of the credits you may be eligible for.

Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit (HATC)

The Government of Manitoba has introduced a new tax credit for homeowners. The Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit (HATC) replaces the previous School Tax Rebate and Education Property Tax Credit for residential properties. You can read more about this change on the Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit & Manitoba School Tax Rebate Information page.

  • This credit, up to $1,600, applies to the education portion of property taxes for residential properties.

  • The HATC is applied directly to your municipal property tax statement.

Seniors’ School Tax Rebate

If you or your spouse/common-law partner meet the following criteria, you may be eligible for the Seniors’ School Tax Rebate:

  • Are 65 years of age or older by December 31st of the year.

  • Own your home or are responsible for the school taxes on your principal residence.

  • Live in your home.

  • Are a resident of Manitoba.

You can claim this rebate when you file your income tax return. For more information, visit the Manitoba government website.

Farmland School Tax Rebate

The Manitoba government is offering a rebate on the school taxes assessed on farmland.

  • This rebate applies only to the school taxes assessed on farmland, not on residences or other buildings.
  • To apply, you must submit an annual application to the Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC).

  • The deadline to apply for the tax year rebate is March 31 each year.
