Animal Control & Wildlife

The Rural Municipality of Reynolds is committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for both our residents and their animals. To maintain this balance, the RM contracts Rural Animal Management Services (RAMS) to oversee animal control issues and investigate complaints within our boundaries.

If you have a concern regarding domestic animals, please contact R.A.M.S at 204-223-5521. For specific situations involving wildlife or provincial animal welfare, please refer to the specialized resources below.

Information & Resources

Reporting an Incident

Running at large, barking complaints, or bite incidents

When reporting an issue to RAMS, please have the following details ready to ensure a prompt response:

  • Incident Details: Time, date, and specific location.
  • Description: The breed, colour, and size of the animal(s).
  • Owner Information: The owner’s address or vehicle description (if known).

Safety Note: If a bite has occurred, please seek medical attention immediately before filing your report.

Found a Pet?

If you have found a lost animal, please take these steps before calling for pickup:

  • Check for ID: Look for collars, hanging tags, or flat plates riveted to the collar.
  • Canvass the Area: Speak with neighbours; most “lost” pets in the RM are very close to home.
  • Social Media: Check local community groups on Facebook or other platforms to see if a neighbour has posted a “missing” ad.

Contact RAMS: If the owner cannot be located, call 204-223-5521 for assistance.

Animal Welfare Concerns

Provincial Animal Care Line: 1-888-945-8001.

If you suspect an animal is being neglected or abused, please consider the following before calling:

  • Visible Distress: Is the animal clearly injured, emaciated, or lacking basic essentials (water/shelter)?
  • Environmental Factors: Consider that some animals or breeds are hardy and prefer to be outdoors, provided they have proper shelter.
  • Direct Communication: If safe to do so, consider speaking with the owner first; they may be unaware of a specific issue.

Note: For genuine emergencies or concerns of cruelty, do not hesitate to call the provincial line.
