Building a Resilient Reynolds

In the RM of Reynolds, we are no strangers to the power of nature. From the significant weather events of 2019 to the seasonal challenges of Manitoba winters, we know that being prepared is not just a suggestion—it is a responsibility we owe to our families and neighbours. This page serves as your central resource for general emergency planning.

Here, you will find comprehensive checklists for your home, vehicle, and “Go-Kits,” alongside safety protocols for extreme temperatures, wind, and hazardous materials. By taking small steps today, you ensure that our community remains strong and self-sufficient, no matter what comes our way.

The 72-Hour Goal (and Beyond)

The aftermath of the October 2019 weather event proved that residents may need to be self-sufficient for up to 16 days. While we aim for 72 hours of readiness as a minimum, we encourage Reynolds residents to prepare for longer durations.

Hazardous Material & Shelter-In-Place

  • Seal the Air: Turn off the furnace, air conditioner, hot water tank, fireplace, and ventilation fans.

  • Reinforce: For added protection, tape cracks around windows and place a damp towel at the base of doors.

  • Listen: Use your battery-powered radio for updates from emergency personnel.
