Provincial legislation was enacted to force municipalities and local government districts to develop local emergency plans. This resulted in the LGD of Reynolds’ council passing a by-law on May 17th, 1988 for the purpose of adopting an Emergency Plan.
Through evolvement we now have a volunteer, paid for service, team called the Local Emergency Response Control Group (LERCG) Their aim is to ensure: - that the effects of an emergency or disaster on the RM of Reynolds and its inhabitants are minimized - the protection and preservation of health, property and environment - the restoration of essential services.
Each hazard can impact a Rural Municipality in different ways. Floods – The RM oversaw the implementation of the flood protection resources in the 1996, 1997, and 1998 floods. As Residents we should be prepared for: -Grass and Forest Fires -Dangerous Goods Spills -Train Derailments
