November 2025

Remembrance Day – Office will be closed on  Tuesday, November 11th

Don't Forget to Fall Back!

A friendly reminder that Daylight Saving Time (DST) ends soon!

On Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 a.m., clocks officially turn backward one hour.

Enjoy that extra hour of sleep, and don't forget to change those pesky household clocks that don't update automatically!

Remembering Our Veterans: November 11th

As the calendar turns to November, we pause to observe Remembrance Day on November 11th.

This is a time to honour and remember the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country during times of war, conflict, and peace.

Our Reeve will be laying a wreath in remembrance on November 11th at the Whitemouth Remembrance Day service, held at the Whitemouth Museum.

We encourage all residents to observe the tradition of Remembrance by:

•    Wearing a poppy in the lead-up to November 11th.

•    Observing the two minutes of silence at the 11th hour (11:00 a.m.) on November 11th.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who have dedicated their lives to defending our values and freedoms. Lest We Forget.

Prepare Your Vehicle for Winter Driving

As the cold weather sets in, please take a few moments to prepare for winter driving conditions. Roads can quickly become slippery, visibility can drop without warning, and temperatures can fall fast, making preparation essential for your safety.

A few minutes of preparation can make all the difference in getting to your destination safely this winter.

Your Pre-Drive Checklist

Before heading out, ensure your vehicle is ready to handle the elements:

•    Check your tire pressure and tread depth. Install winter tires if possible, they are highly recommended for driving in the RM of Reynolds.

•    Keep your gas tank at least half full. This prevents fuel line freeze-up and ensures you have heat if you get delayed.

•    Clear all windows, mirrors, and lights before driving. Remember the rule: "See and Be Seen."

•    Ensure your reservoir is full of winter-grade washer fluid (rated for below freezing). You'll need it when plows hit the road!

Keep a Winter Safety Kit Handy

It's a good idea to keep a comprehensive winter safety kit in your vehicle. If you slide off the road, this kit can keep you warm and safe while help is on the way.

Emergency Kit Essentials:

•    A blanket (or sleeping bag) and extra warm clothing (hats, gloves, scarves).

•    Booster cables and basic tools.

•    A shovel and a traction aid (a small bag of sand, cat litter, or traction mats).

•    A flashlight with fresh batteries, or a crank-powered light.

•    Non-perishable snacks and water. A fully charged phone charger or power bank.

•    A complete First Aid Kit.

On the Road

Please take it slow, give yourself extra travel time, and stay alert. Reduced speed and increased following distance are your best defense against black ice and sudden weather changes.

Winter Tip: Clear Your Driveway the Smart Way

Plowing is a tough job, and a little smart shoveling from residents goes a long way to help our municipal snow removal equipment work efficiently and prevent snow from piling back up in your driveway!

1. Push Your Snow to the Right

When clearing your driveway, always pile the snow on the right-hand side as you face the road.

•    Why? Our municipal plows are designed to push the street snow to the right-hand side of the lane. When your pile is on the right, the plow will naturally sweep that snow down the road, away from your entrance.

•    Avoid the "Trap": If you pile your snow on the left, the plow will hit your existing pile first and dump a large, dense wall of snow (a windrow) right across your freshly cleared driveway, forcing you to shovel it again.

2. Take Responsibility for Ridges

Remember, you are responsible for how you leave your snow on the municipal road allowance.

•    Please do not push snow from your driveway onto the roadway.

•    Be aware that you are responsible for any damage to vehicles or equipment caused by frozen ridges or hard-packed snow left by you on the road. Please ensure the road area you work on is left as flat and clear as possible.

Following these tips will help us all have a safer, less frustrating winter!

What's Happening with the Molson Housing Project?

We know some of you have seen the RFP about the proposed new housing development in Molson, and we want to clear up a few rumours that are circulating! We want to be sure everyone has the right information.

Affordable Housing, Not Subsidized Housing

The biggest misunderstanding is about the type of housing we plan to encourage.

The RM is looking to build Affordable Housing. This is not the same as "subsidized housing."

•    Affordable Housing means new homes that are priced so that working families, young people, or seniors can afford them without spending too much of their paycheque. It is built by private partners and helps our local workforce and community grow by making sure people have a fair price on a house or apartment.

•    Subsidized Housing is usually when the government pays a large part of the rent directly for a few specific families who have very low income. That is not the plan for the Molson project.

Project Status Update

We are committed to finding the right partner to build these homes, but we are still looking.

The first request we sent to developers did not produce a relevant agreement, so we are taking our time to find the best builder who shares the vision for this project. The plan is moving forward, but we do not have a developer chosen yet.

Community Information Session Coming Soon!

We want to talk to you directly!

The Councillor from Ward 3 and our Economic Development Officer (EDO) are working together to host a Community Information Session about the Molson Housing Development Project in the near future. This meeting will be a great chance for you to ask questions and learn all the details face-to-face.

Information will be shared as soon as a venue and date can be secured for this meeting. In the meantime, residents with questions are encouraged to contact the EDO, Cyndie Mitchell, for more information.
